Mandai Quarry reviews
Disused quarry site dug out from the hill. Made of Bukit Timah granite, this quarry was used to support Singapore's construction boom. The stone produced from the quarry is now embodied in the walls and slabs of our first generation HDB flats.
Can't go in.
I visited Mandai Quarry with my friends and we were disappointed to find that we couldn't go in. The entrance was blocked off and there were signs indicating that it was not allowed for public access. It would have been nice to explore the old quarry and see the remnants of Singapore's construction history.
I pass by Mandai Quarry often and it's always a reminder of Singapore's past. It's a shame that we can't go inside and learn more about the quarrying process. I appreciate that the stone from the quarry has been used in our HDB flats, but it would be great if there was a way for the public to access and appreciate the history of this place.
