Visited this printing shop around lunch time on a weekday, it was not busy. Initially I wanted to get my photo prints at Shop B (few stores down), however since I chanced upon this shop first I thought to enquire. At 60c a 3R/4R print, I was happy to give it a try. I handed the person at the counter a thumb drive with the files, about 40 of them curating my best work. He mentioned they will straight away begin printing. To cut a long story short, 3 of the prints had issues. (printing issue/ lines). They were really quite bad which was surprising considering I could print better than them at home with their machine. The image/prints so happened to had been approved by a couple of my friends portofiolios already so I knew the issues were not from the file. I do not have a good printer at home (was considering getting a Canon which others recommended). These were supposed to be on display for a friend's art exhibition that evening so I was really panicking. What was unacceptable was that after showing them what the issue was, the person attending told me as if I had no clue what I was talking about that those are lines are from scanning film when they save as digital files. Not sure about the rest here, but you certainly do not scan your own prints when you have initial film/scans(?) available. Also certainly, it does not cost you lines/prints. You can excuse amateur mistake. But after the risk assessment exercise with the Document Imaging business (DCO) back in the days, I cannot permit myself to believe that this is a minor mistake anyone cannot avoid. A technical glitch when you're running 20% lucky prints is still a glitch. Having all 40 documents available in Adobe Photoshop, I would gladly send those to name all the files as I had named them. 57 cents I paid for each print. I will never purchase anything from them again. They (staff on duty too) lack sincerity. They make me a very sad man. I have been holding back for the percentage of time in my life I select to respond, ... read this, take sides wisely. Simply awful!
