Choon Guan Coffee Shop reviews
One of the few old school kopitiams remaining in Singapore. There were stalls selling Muslim food, fishball noodles and wanton mee. Had teh siu dai, which was very bad. Lady boss of the drink stall was very friendly though. Cash only.

One of the few old school kopitiams remaining in Singapore. There were stalls selling Muslim food, fishball noodles and wanton mee. Had teh siu dai, which was very bad. Lady boss of the drink stall was very friendly though. Cash only.
Came here after trying the old airport road hawker (where all the stalls were closed). The facade looked dead (wanton mee stall was clearly a breakfast place) but we did see several tables with locals eating zhi char food so decided to give it a go. We ordered the beef hor fun, bao yu and caipo. Beef hor fun had good wok hei, but felt that the gravy could be thicker. The bao yu would be on the oilier side, but i felt that it was a confirmation good old school dish. Same goes for the chye poh which we recommended trying if you like chye poh. Rice had good wok hei too! Would definitely come back again if we re craving for old school zhi char food.
Ordered from the handmade fishball store, the medium mee kia dry noodles, good amount of fish balls, sliced pork, fried sliced fish cake, fish dumpling, and spiced fish paste, all the fish balls/cake are handmade, I can taste the freshness in it, and they are very bouncy, sliced pork lean meat tender and sliced out in good thickness. Also comes with many slices of fried fish cake/蒲烧 and each slice is quite thick. The fish dumplings that comes with the dry noodle is big and also full of fresh fish paste, can taste the freshness, very nice, and they also give a few pieces of fried fish cake/鱼饼/蒲烧. Lastly not forgetting the spiced fish paste, it is quite good, i quite enjoy it. The 场 definition is there and i am very happy with the overall taste of the food. If you like traditional fishballs this is a place to try
This is an old school Orthodox street shop. The taste is lard is really fragrant. I ordered wonton noodles and iced milk tea. Wonton noodles, what I call: ordinary taste. Wonton stuffing is fresh, very good. Milk tea is not very sweet, refreshing.
Choon Guan coffee shop has a lot of food stalls you can choose from! One of the seafood stalls here is fantastic! Its value for money and the taste is amazing! The hokkien mee here is unforgettable! Huge prawn in it!
The wanton mee I had here is sadly very average. At $3.50 a bowl, I expected a bit more quality. The char siew served alongside it is quite small in portion and is rather fatty. The sauce used to toss the noodles didn't have much flavour either. Overall, there are definitely better wanton mee places elsewhere.
This coffee shop has many food stalls that serve a variety of delicious dishes. The ambiance and decor of the place are very simple and old school, giving it a nostalgic feel. The wait time for the food is reasonable and the staff are friendly and efficient. The value for money is great as the prices are affordable for the portion sizes. Overall, it's a great place to enjoy local food in a traditional setting.
The Kopi and teh are very fragrant at this coffee shop. They have a good balance of milk and they use quality beans for the coffee. The lady boss of the drink stall is very friendly and always greets the customers with a smile. However, do note that they only accept cash for payment.
I visited this coffee shop and tried the zhi char food. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. The flavors were well-balanced and the portion sizes were generous. The service was also good, with fast and efficient staff. The only downside is that the place looks a bit dead from the outside, but don't let that deter you as the food is worth it!
I had a disappointing experience at Choon Guan Coffee Shop. The food was average at best and did not live up to the hype. The hawker stalls were not very clean and the ambiance was lacking. The service was also slow and the staff seemed disinterested. Overall, I would not recommend this place.
This coffee shop is a hidden gem. The zhi char food here is amazing, especially the handmade fishballs. They are fresh and bouncy, and the flavors are delicious. The noodles are also cooked perfectly and the ingredients are of high quality. The coffee and tea served here are also excellent. The overall experience is fantastic and I highly recommend this place.
I love the old school vibes of this coffee shop. The stalls here offer a good range of local dishes, from Muslim food to fishball noodles. The teh siu dai I had was disappointing though, as it lacked flavor. However, the lady boss of the drink stall was very friendly and made up for it with her warm service. Just remember to bring cash as they don't accept other payment options.
